21 February 2008 · Staff
Car lovers attending the 2008 Melbourne International Motorshow will be
able to view the all-new Renault Laguna Estate which was recently named as
the “Most Beautiful Car Of the Year” by the International Automotive
Festival of Paris.

The 23rd Annual International Automotive Festival of Paris, held in early February,
awarded the Laguna Estate two prestigious awards, naming it the 2007 ‘Most
Beautiful Car of the Year’ and ‘Most Beautiful Interior of the Year’. The annual
awards recognise design integrity and material quality are selected from a short
list of products by a voting public from across Europe
“2008 will be a very busy year for Renault in Australia,” says Renault Australia
Managing Director, Rudi Koenig.

“The all-new Laguna will be the flagship of our range and will offer a rewarding
combination of elegance, driving pleasure and value that many other European
brands simply can’t match.”
Elegant, Fluid And Dynamic Lines
Dynamic and modern with an overall length and width of 4.80 and 1.81 metres
respectively, the Renault Laguna Estate is longer than the Laguna hatch, at 4.69
metres, the width of both vehicles is identical.
The dramatic slope of the rear screen on the Estate lends it a striking air. The third
side window, with its extended glazed surface, accentuates the dynamic shape.
Practicality remains a priority, with numerous new storage innovations, including
the new ‘Superfold’ system for the rear seats which offers a perfectly flat load
area.
The profiled headlamp modules are particularly expressive, too, and the layout of
the three light sources gives Renault Laguna Estate a particularly piercing gaze.
The chrome side window surrounds form a flowing arch that further highlights the
model’s status-enhancing looks.
The twin chrome tailpipes hint at the presence of a pedigree powertrain.

nterior Refinement
Renault Laguna Estate’s cabin is identical to that of the hatch version and mirrors
the exterior’s appeal with a harmonious design which conveys a genuine sense of
refinement. The radio and trip displays are seamlessly integrated, while the
reassuring, driver-friendly controls and displays have been carefully designed and
positioned. In addition to the gearshift lever, the centre console houses manual
over-ride controls for the automatic parking brake, cruise control/speed limiter and
navigation and communication system (where fitted).
Driving Pleasure
The 2.0 dCi Engine delivers outstanding performance with a maximum power
output of 110kW at 4,000rpm and 340Nm of torque at just 2,000rpm. The engine
is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Safety For All
New Laguna ensures peace of mind for all its occupants.
Laguna II was the first vehicle to secure a five-star rating in Euro NCAP crash
tests in 2001. With a total of 36 points from a possible 37 the new Laguna hatch
recorded one of the highest scores ever recorded in EuroNCAP tests earlier this
year.
Whilst the new Laguna is fitted with an array of passive and active safety
technology and features, such as curtain airbags and ESP, particular attention has
been paid to side impact performance.
New Laguna features a system based on two sensors incorporated in the front
door and B-pillar with the ability to reduce impact detection and airbag deployment
times by up to half of the best systems currently available.
New Laguna is also equipped with warning lights which warn if any of the five
seatbelts are not fastened, plus an audible alarm in the case of the front seats.
On Sale In 2008
The all-new Laguna went on sale in Europe in November, 2007. The Laguna
hatch will go on sale in Australia in June with the estate to follow later in the year.
